Official Release: eyesofglenn.com

Exciting news people!

I have just formally released my new website: http://www.eyesofglenn.com/

In light of this development, you'd be glad to know that this current blog will continue to function for now - but if you can all do me a favour and hop onto http://www.facebook.com/eyesofglenn/  and "like" my page for me, that would be great!

As you can see just below my old banner, is the new banner of which my long time friend Nicholas Liem designed for me. Apparently he will gladly quit engineering and pursue logo designs if there is enough interest! ;)

Anyways, happy reading/procrastinating on my blog. There's still a whole lot of backlog to clear if you haven't noticed yet!

an announcement #2

aaaand it looks like you people think that changing the name was an idea that was influenced by alcohol.

so i've been suggested to not go changing names - and based on this strong reaction i'll likely keep it to this. however, website and domains will need to be purchased!

in other news, there won't be much posts here till i get the wedding photos done. you know me - strictly chronological!

an announcement

i'm here to announce that I will be progressing this whole photography into a new dimension. soon i will be rebranding and hopefully will migrate to a newer, more user friendly website that will be more professional.

if you have any suggestions for cool names and the like, i'm more than happy to consider :)

broken flash :(

quick post here... so i broke my SB-600.

walking around the city tonight, the latch holding it down failed/slipped and the whole unit came crashing down on george street.

i was hoping it would resurrect itself, but it seems unlikely, as firing the forced flash shows me an attempted circuit completion in the flash unit... seems like the connection has been broken in there :(

oh well, time to look at the SB-700. just need to find $350 :s

Fail Fail Fail Fail ^25245......etc.

The Miss List:

3 x 21sts
3 x Christmas Parties
1 x 50th
1 x 18th
Sculptures by the Sea.

Prepare for more spam.

NB: This was due to my laptop hard drive (secondary) crashing, and hence the edited, exported photos that were on facebook had been lost and at that stage not backed up yet.... Never fear, I still have all the owiginals :)

Bizarre Bazaar

Well this is a change!

Instead of pure photography, I've now been hired to be the Videographer for Bizarre Bazaar!

What's Bizarre Bazaar?
It's a fashion marketplace which runs monthly at different locations giving the local designers around Sydney a chance to showcase their talent and also earn a buck or two!

So if you love to shop, be trendy and artsy, or just want to come and say hi, head over to Bizarre Bazaar on the 4th August next Thursday evening.

This month's Bazaar is held in Oxford Street;

74-76 Oxford Street
Darlinghurst

La Mint. #2

Nothing to show here in terms of pictures, too ceebs to bring the camera, but me and the girl went off to la mint just then (by just then i mean for dinner, not 12am LOL) and had an awesome time talking childhood among amazing food.

For entree, we had snail. yep, i had snail. nomnomnom, quite amazing actually, it's like squid. Give it a shot. I can't guarantee that it would be as amazing as this place, but hey, at least you know the texture now!

We shared three mains among the two of us (yeah, we have a very high metabolism!) which included pork belly, lamb cutlets and beef cubes.
Firstly the pork belly was incredible. as fattening as it was, the flavours really blanket the mouth, living up to the signature dish it is. It is made even better with Chef George's special chilli sauce - this chilli has a powerful kick and would require a fairly decent tolerance of chilli to properly enjoy, or it will kill your tongue.
Secondly the lamb cutlets were special. you can't really go wrong with lamb cutlets, but there is nothing stopping you from making it special. and that's what it was - the lamb just melted in your mouth.
Thirdly there was the beef. Clearly this was a favourite of my dearest, as she demolished most of it, realising with a few pieces left she ate almost the whole thing! Quite funny, yet so cute to see her just forget and feel bad - nothing wrong with enjoying your dish :) what mattered is that I actually got to try it, and man, i never knew asian tossed snake beans would work well with beef in a lemony salt/pepper dip.

For dessert, we got a sweet potato chips with ice cream which were very thin chips of sweet potato with cinnamon sauce and ice cream, combining lightly fried with sweet and cold. we also got strawberry with caster sugar, mint and vodka - almost a cocktail!

either way, the food was matched by the good company as always, and the many never ending conversations and stories we have

oh and of course, screaming out the whole album of The Cab on the way back home :)

okokokok.

so my pictures folder on my computer says that the latest album was on the 7th of August. It's the 21st today. That's two weeks of no photography. Ok, I was sick last weekend - but there's an event on tonight so hopefully i can get some nice snapshots of food and drinks.

oh and hopefully people have enjoyed wasting that massive roll of white paper at the polls today!

another backlog....

So, I've had four photography events in three days totalling 1100 snaps of the shutter. Only 2/3 made it through, but heck I'll need to update the blog........

Give it a couple of days and there will be some (hopefully) good pictures up. The very last one of the four, I was up at the Harbour Bridge Pylon, and tried some effects there..

on that note i feel like having a review of my own blog to make it more accessible to people searching for stuff, any suggestions are more than welcome!

The Spanish Fly

not the actual creature, but the restaurant that i went to with some mates the other night was quite frankly, amazing. what sucked was that the camera was at home HOMAIGAWD *facepalms* i had an inkling i'd want to bring it, but thought against it for some reason..

they serve tapas (small serving-fingerfood-snacky foods) - each of which were quite awesome. I'll list the ones I can remember:
- Meatballs in a tomato base spicy sauce
- Chorizo (this epic tasting sausage)
- Queensland Prawns, with hollandaise sauce. As my friend put it "the prawns and the sauce just melt in your mouth"
- Calamari with an olive based paste
- Sourdough with three dips (beetroot, guac and this other orange thing)
- Portugese style chicken, not really spanish but who cares, it was heaps good.
- Tortellini filled with mushrooms
- Haloumi cheese, the epic deep fried cheese!

also for dessert:
- forgot the name, but a kinda doughnut texture stick with a pure chocolate dip......

drinks:
a litre of sangria, REAL sangria.

each of the tapas ranged from 10-15 bucks each, not cheap since the portions are small, but what's lost in quantity is made up in quality heads down.

definitely going back there, WITH A CAMERA. i'm sure the other 3 who went with me would agree that it was one of the best dinners we've had in a looong while.
